Two Decades of Rap, Lil Wayne’s The Funeral

By: Tom Trucksess

Solidifying a music career which has produced music over the last two decades, Lil Wayne has released his 13th studio album. Also known as “Weezy”, Lil Wayne has accolades many other musicians cannot come close to attaining. Starting his music career at the age of nine, just eight years later he would release his first studio album in 1999. This album, “The Block is Hot” was certified platinum this same year.

It was not until 2004 with the release of Tha Carter his fourth album, Lil Wayne truly became a household name. Tha Carter, which gained platinum status, has sold more than 2.3 million copies to date. Wayne’s success continued in the years following. This came with the release of his other albums including Tha Carter II and Tha Carter III. Both of these albums quickly gained platinum status.

Today, Wayne continues his success with his latest studio album release. Though some are giving his latest release mixed reviews, I personally see this as a perfect representation of Wayne celebrating both himself and his past.
