The news is out. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 has been announced. Some however are wondering, why so many influential musicians have been left out.
Artists who have already been inducted into the hall of fame such as Kirk Hammett of Metallica, have voiced their frustration. This is how metal bands keep getting left out, year after year.
Kirk points to this being a generational difference. This would explain why metal bands are left out, but more mainstream artists such as Whitney Houston and Notorious BIG who strike a chord with a younger generation, have been let in.
Another musician Tim Owens, has made his disapproval known to this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class. Tim Ownes, was also in a heavy metal band Judas Priest. Tim Ownes states how the band he was formally in, was eligible since 1999 to be inducted into the hall of fame, but to this day, have not.
While nobel in its purpose, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has seeked to honor both living and passed musicians. On the other hand, musicians of the present, feel that while the hall is honoring musicians, they are leaving others out, who should be included.
